“Abstraction on Beauty” is an ongoing fine art photography project, that has continued over several years. The idea was pretty simple, take the most beautiful blank canvas that I could think of ( the female form ), and paint my abstract visions on that canvas. This is the byproduct of that idea. The project was also an opportunity for me to combine my two favorite mediums of fine art, photography and painting, to create a brand new mixed media. And no, I don’t classify this collection as body painting, it is something more. Technically I am painting on the body, but the paint isn’t applied with air brush, it’s done the old fashion way with real paint and brush. I first paint the model with acrylic paint ( since it is water based it is removed fairly easy ) and then I photograph the model to create the image. In post-production the skin tone is removed using photoshop, to allow the colors of the painting to really stand out in the image. Unless of course the painting is grayscale and then it just becomes a pure black and white image. I believe one of the great things about this series is the painting is only temporary, and without photographing it, to archive the painting, no one would know it had ever existed.
